  1. Your editing is fine. Creed, Tonic? Who the hell can tell the difference. They both suck. When Storm was doing Surrender I actually thought about you, crying.
In general, performances were much worse than the first week.

  2. I almost peed my pants several times while listening to this episode. Watching Rockstar has been damn painful, but you’re making it more fun. You’re right. They all suck and the ones that can barely sing aren’t much better than the rest.

But Michael, you missed a key moment in the elimination show. Remember when Jill (the chick who had done the Courtney Love song) did the Evanescence song? That was the EXACT SAME song the chick with the long black hair (the mouthy one) did during week one. While Jill was singing the camera kept panning to the black-haired chick to get her reaction.

    Good interview with Matt.

  3. Hey Michael…

Don’t worry about the show being 90 minutes.
The only bad side: it keeps me from working properly for close to 90 minutes… 😉

I love this format; and as I’ve mentioned before, your interviews are always fun. The best bit, in fact.

    Keep on rockin’!!!

  4. Great train wreck show. I don’t think we’re getting Supernova over here in the UK yet. Just the got Scott Ian, Seb Bach, program on VH1. One thing that just bugs me is that Tainted Love was only popularised by Soft Cell but actually written & recorded by Marc Bolan’s girlfriend Gloria Jones.

  5. it’s not *really* a surprise that reality tv is a set-up, is it?…
however, it is really damn shitty that artists who participate in the event are made to look like fools and a mockery is made of their talents.

i like Matt Hoffer’s song ‘Standing Eight Count’ a lot… it’s a great song as are the others he has posted on his MySpace page.
i’d much rather hear contestants on these ridiculous tv “reality” talent shows sing their own creations rather than try to jump thorough bogus hoops set up by under-talented producers. for me, a lifelong music fans and appreciator of musicians, it would make for a far more entertaining, refreshing and enlightening show… but, i suppose, this is not what the ‘Rock Star’ tv shows is all about :/

shame on any Tommy Lee and the others for promoting such bullshit

  6. This is great comedy.

That Evanescense song that Jill said she chose because it was “current” was released in 2003.. I suppose that could be called current.. 🙄

    great show, butler

  7. Actually – TL was originally composed by Ed Cobb, recorded by Gloria jones in ’64 and has been covered no less than 30 times, including obce by Gloria Jones herself with her lover Marc Bolan (of T-Rex fame), Inspiral Carpets, Flying Pickets, The Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Billy Idol and Hootie and the Blowfish, let alone Soft Cell (and again by Marc Almond with Soft Cell [?!] in ’91).

    Good show.
