  1. Thanks, Michael for allowing me to post my poem. I’m excited about my new career!
    Take care, Cheryl

  2. Welcome to the “new” Cheryl ! Send another comment about the show now ! Mike needs his “wives” around him…
    Where are you Donna ?…:)
Thanks for the promo Mike but I think the death of Meltingpod is announced with the new text the SACEM (similar than ASCAP or BMI for France) is working about right now to ask a lot of money to the podcasters who are playing music on the internet…WITH or WITHOUT the agreements, permissions from the artists and labels !!!!!
It means in short, in January if I will not pay, I must delete all of my shows !!
This institution which was built to protect the artists’copy rights is killing their music !!!
The biggest radios who began to podcast now will pay the price and will continue their show as before ! In fact for me a big part of the interest of podcasting is disappearing…
I just got today, directly sent from the Angels themselves to Meltingpod, their new live album 2005…I will have to play it quick now !
    Revolution !

  3. Annie, is this only for French artists, or all artists? I am sure you can play stuff from the Podsafe Music Network right?

  4. I ‘m on the way to look for a precise info about the musicians who declared their copyrights in another lands. But the rumor tends to say it’s the same processing for all.
The text is not still edited and it would be interesting that Adam Curry and Podshow will have a look on this dark story.
In France, we started podcasting 6 months after the US but we will surely have an new legislation to forbid the free music 6 months before the US ! we are the best for that !
I’m not against to give a part of my profit to the musicians if I could be paid for my work. The musicians who gave me their agreement to play for free their music understood very well that ! But from the moment they declare a copyright they are no more free to decide what they want to do with their own production. It’s the paradox !

  5. Well, I think Wendy was most definitely correct about me acting “whacked” because I sure have been feeling that way about my lose of my friendship with Julie. But, as I wrote to Wendy, Julie does have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). She’s always relied on the help of others even though she’s a very intelligent and wise person. After I wrote a letter; really a therapy-letter to me since I doubt Wendy will write back or even if I got the write Wendy W., I figured it out. I was blessed with the friendship of Julie for awhile. But, I’m really better off without now in my life and I have a new opportunity for a job, new place to live and new friends to meet. Who knows what’s in store for me now? I’m hoping to finish my art education and get my Ph.D in the near future as well. I bet there will be comments about that, too. Ah, yes, imagine that.

I have only positive thoughts about it! I think Michael’s show is great, as always. I think he plays the finest Rock-N-Roll ever! But, as I told him in an email, I like a variety of music. I think as an artist or as someone who has an appreciation for it, you’ve got to keep your heart, mind, soul and body open to all forms of art! More importantly, you must keep this kind of spirit about yourself so that you will not become some narrow-minded nimple peaheaded brained person! What I mean is that you need to keep an open mind and heart so that you can grow as a person. Most of all, it is my recommendation that all artists keep this in mind even when you have a signature style or attitude people recognize you for as an artist. Influences and changes in yourself, in your life, and in your artwork demonstrates to others who you are as an artist as well as an individual. I am glad that fate has finally pointed me into a direction which will bring new adventures for my life. I just wanted to share that with Michael and his listeners because I think he’s a very special guy, musician and podcaster!

Thanks and love to you Mike!
    Cheryl;)

  6. Mike I found the info : ASCAP and BMI are represented in France by the SACEM and it’s the same rule for every countries ! After declaring copyrights, the musicians gave their rights to the SACEM (or ASCAP…) to decide what to do to protect them. And the SACEM forbid to spread the music on internet, specially under mp3! The musicians can’t give their songs for free more ! The French podcasts who work correctly like me (with artists and labels agreements, website links…) stay under the threat to have to stop tomorrow ! Nice, no ?

  7. Lol! Well, since I’m so famous now for my commenting, here’s another one for you, Annie and Michael. In lieu of my last and latest comment about “artists keeping an open minded attitude about their art,”I would let any, I mean, ANY podcaster play my songs/music even if I did not make a cent off of them playing it. Sure, I would want someone to buy my music and come to my concerts and all. But, all I can vouch for is my paintings. Do you know how many times I show my paintings and don’t make a cent off of it? Plenty! But, finally someone will look at it and say…yep..I just love that painting, got to have it now! Then, it finally finds a home. Oh well, just trying to use some deperate kind of analogy here with what you are talking about. So, if I were a musician famous or not, play my music and play it as often as you want to so more can hear it. I would not be that territorial about it so long as I do have the rights and ownership that rightfully belong to my music or; in my case, paintings.
Good luck, Annie. I hope to visit France one day and pick up some great music from there in the future.
    Cheryl

  8. Thought it was pretty funny that Adam Curry just played “Planet of Women” on the DSC today. Nice to know that your ahead of everybody else with good music. Keep on rockin’

    Jeff

  9. i’m still here, Annie…. still adoring our sweet, lovable, kind-hearted-not-a-bad-bone-in-his-body-rocker Michael and the cool_as_shit RnRGS,
but got some other things goin’ on in my life right now that need more of my time & attention, at the moment…
so, i’ll leave this space free for Adam Curry, the charming Piped Piper Poser of Podcasting,
and the return of Cheryl, the wacked out aspiring artist/teacher we all know from the School of Hard Knocks….
and, let’s not forget Wendy, the judgemental opinionated bitch we all love and are glad to know still watches over us ‘ol time listeners
    :p 😉

    just joking… sorta….
    i really luv ya all,

    🙂

  10. I really thank all of you for posting comments and I am glad Cheryl is back, to be honest. It is fun for me to read comments from women. It is much better than the comments on most of the other blogs to me.

  11. aaww, Michael, the place and time and energy you give us here in rocker cyberland is better than any other blogger comments area most of us would ever desire to participate in…. you make us all feel like we belong.
i’m pretty danged sure if we all got together in real space and time, we would all be grooving with each other, digging good music and cheering for one more encore before going back to wherever we all do during our day-to-day life.

question i have always wanted to ask you… when you are on stage, behind the mic, playing your bass guitar, do you ever look out on the mix of people in the audience and imagine how your life, your whole perspecrtive of who you are would be different if you were in the audience digging the show rather than being the show?

  12. Welcome back Cheryl!

Do you have a website to display your Art?

It will open the World to your Artistic work.

    Sales could follow…

  13. This is hysterical!

It takes the resurfacing of Cheryl for all of us to come out of the woodwork and post comments circa October, 2004.

Damn, Michael if this doesn’t prove how much we all love you, nothing will.
