From San Francisco, California, this is the Rock and Roll Geek Show. This is the story of my rock and roll butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show.

00:00:23
My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it.

00:00:26
Today is Wednesday, July 13th, 2026. It’s 5-12 when I’m recording this episode. I am in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

00:00:37
We’re at a place called Little America. I’m with the beautiful, undisclosed person and friend of the show, Ken Grossman. Hey, Michael.

00:00:45
Hey, Ken. I saw Ken back in, when did we play Denver? June?

00:00:54
June of last year. Sometime last year, we played the Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colorado and Ken showed up along with a couple other friends of the show came as well. JB Skulls showed up and somebody else showed up too.

00:01:12
Nice to see you, Ken. You made a two-hour drive all the way to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Hey, just to see you, man.

00:01:18
I really appreciate it. It’s nice to see friends of the show. Long time.

00:01:22
You’re looking good. Oh, thanks. Yeah.

00:01:25
How old are you? What are you, 35? Something like that?

00:01:27
We’re actually the same age, believe it or not. I told him, he got here about the same time we did and he recognized the Ryder truck. It’s not Ryder, the Penske truck.

00:01:36
I’m in a Penske truck driving across the country all the way. We’re on I-80 the entire way. We left San Francisco, got on I-80. We have been on I-80 the entire time, so it’s going to go I-80 all the way to New York,

00:01:51
an undisclosed location in New York. If you are in I-80 anywhere along that route, anywhere east of Cheyenne, Wyoming and would like to meet up, friends, rockandrollgeek at gmail.com or hit me up on the Facebook or Instagram.

00:02:11
I would love to have a beer with you. We are having a fine … What are we drinking here?

00:02:15
Modelo. Fine Modelo’s and the koozie. Kim’s got the Yeti knockoff koozie. I got the extra-tough soft koozie and beautiful undisclosed, Raquel has also a purple Yeti

00:02:30
knockoff koozie as well from Walmart. Take a sip of this fine Modelo. Cheers.

00:02:37
Cheers. Ah, so we were in … Where were we last night?

00:02:44
Not Elko. We were in Evansville. Evanston.

00:02:47
Evanston, Wyoming in the middle of nowhere. We were going to look for a dive bar and there was no Uber, but the guy at the front desk, we stayed at the … Something or other by Win Comfort Inn or something like that.

00:03:08
Anyway, it was a very nice Indian gentleman. No offense to Indian gentlemen, but when I looked in, the lobby was a little bit dirty and the Indian gentleman was eating curry or something and I got a little bit scared. There was going to be a shitty hotel, but it was a nice … It wasn’t bad and he was

00:03:25
a very nice man. He said, well, there’s a taxi service that’ll take you anywhere. Toss 10 bucks anywhere you want to go.

00:03:34
I said, okay, that sounds good. We went up to the room, brought our stuff up and said, we want to go to Spanky’s Bar. Do you know where Spanky’s Bar is?

00:03:41
Yeah, I know where it is. It’s the female taxi driver, but I got to tell you, we’re closing at nine and it was 8.15, so we said, all right, I guess we got to drive the Penske truck.

00:03:55
I really don’t want to get pulled over for drunk driving in a Penske 16-foot truck. That would suck. As we’re pulling out of the hotel, or I should say motel, it’s more like a motel, whatever, we’re pulling out of the motel and about 100 feet past the driveway, we saw the Highway 30 or Highway 80 saloon.

00:04:17
Tavern. Tavern, whatever. Oh, there it is. We drove the Penske truck back to the hotel, slash motel, parked and walked to the saloon

00:04:27
or whatever it was called. We’re looking at places. Where are we going to stop?

00:04:32
Where are we going to stop? We don’t know where we’re going to stop. We had no idea.

00:04:35
I said, oh, I guess I’m going to have to blow Chris Grossman off. Not blow him, but blow him off. I didn’t want to do that. Why don’t we make it an easy drive and drive to Cheyenne and I’ll tell Ken, hey, maybe

00:04:54
we can meet halfway or somewhere. This bartender was there and she saw us looking for places and we were kind of getting cranky with each other and kind of arguing about where we were going to stay. If I piss her off, Raquel, I start getting really bummed out and I start crying in public.

00:05:10
I didn’t want to piss her off. The bartender came up and she says, oh, were you guys … She knew we were traveling.

00:05:15
She gave us some pointers. She told us to stay in Cheyenne. We booked a place called Little America in Cheyenne.

00:05:23
You go down, you’re driving down the freeway and you see $1 ice cream cones. It’s kind of like a Buc-ee’s. All these Buc-ee’s ads.

00:05:33
Have you ever been to Buc-ee’s? Have you ever been to Buc-ee’s, Ken? We have a Buc-ee’s.

00:05:36
Oh, you have a Buc-ee’s up here? We have one. We haven’t seen it yet.

00:05:39
It’s probably about 50 miles from here. If you’ve never been to Buc-ee’s, have you been to Buc-ee’s, Raquel? No.

00:05:44
I don’t know it. Buc-ee’s is the … It’s like Disneyland of truck stops.

00:05:48
It is amazing. It is so cool. It’s kind of like Buc-ee’s.

00:05:54
I don’t know where I was going with this. Anyway, we said, oh, Little America. I guess we’re staying at a place called Buc-ee’s.

00:06:00
We pull into this place. It’s a resort. I mean, it’s really nice.

00:06:03
There’s a golf course here and it’s a really nice lobby. The girls were dressed in Western. They have the uniform.

00:06:10
Wrangler. The uniforms are Wrangler denim outfits. They’re cute girls.

00:06:14
They’re younger. Maybe they look like they were 18 years old, but, Ken, I don’t know what you’re into. We all wish.

00:06:22
Cute girls. We all wish. So here we are in the room of the Little America Resort and met Ken Grossman.

00:06:34
It’s nice to see Ken again and we’re going to have a couple of beers. So I just figured I would check in and say goodbye. And Ken, anything you’re not very talkative on this thing.

00:06:46
Ken’s a little… Are you microphone shy? Yes.

00:06:50
So should we put the word out for you on the dating apps? You know Chris Cappell. I don’t know if you know Chris Cappell.

00:06:56
I know of him. He’s the king of the dating apps and he’s always getting all kinds of girls from the dating apps. So if any hot girls out there are looking for a good looking guy in the Denver area.

00:07:09
Really handsome. Beautiful eyes. The seal of approval from Raquel.

00:07:15
Hazel. They’re really beautiful hazel eyes. Long lashes.

00:07:20
Really gorgeous. He’s got a brand new camper as well. You can go glamping with Ken Grossman.

00:07:31
All right, friends. Thank you for this. Thank you for joining us.

00:07:33
Thank you for listening to this update. Oh, I also want to thank Dan Garawan. Sent me a Penske truck donation.

00:07:40
Thank you, Dan Garawan. $100 Penske truck donation. The Penske truck costs five grand, including the insurance.

00:07:47
So I appreciate the help, Dan Garawan. I will talk to you tomorrow, friends. We’re not going to talk to him tomorrow?

00:07:56
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. No, no, no.

00:07:58
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll talk to you tomorrow, friends. In keeping with the road shows, you know, the songs with road in the title, I’m going

00:08:06
to play, how about The Road Below Me from D.A.D.?

00:08:12
Thanks for listening, friends. Rockandrollgeek.com.

00:08:15
Ken Grossman, thanks for coming, friend. We’re going to go to a place called the Crown Bar and have some drinks and some food. It’s either that or the Rooster Saloon.

00:08:25
What is it? Redwood. The Redwood Saloon.

00:08:28
I don’t know what the fuck it’s called. The Redwood Saloon or the Rooster Saloon. I think we’re going to try the Crown Bar, and if that sucks, we’ll head to the Rooster Saloon.

00:08:37
Ken’s going to drive us because we don’t want to drive the Penske truck. There’s not room for three in the truck. Well, you’d have to sit in the middle.

00:08:46
I don’t want to sit in the back. All my shit in the back of a Penske truck, friends. Still made it without getting pulled over or knocked wood.

00:08:55
Here’s D.A.D., rockandrollgeek.com, rockandrollgeek.gmail.com is how you can find me.

00:08:59
How can we reach you, Ken? Are you on the Instagrams or anything? I am not.

00:09:02
I get booted off of Facebook. For doing what? Somebody hacked my account, so they booted me off.

00:09:09
Huh. They boot you off for somebody hacking your account? Yup.

00:09:12
How does that work? That’s okay. Do they put pictures?

00:09:15
I have no idea what they did. Yeah. I didn’t want to be on there anyway.

00:09:19
Ken Grossman can’t be found on social media. I’m not a social guy. I will connect you to Ken Grossman, ladies.

00:09:26
rockandrollgeek.com, rockandrollgeek.gmail.com.

00:09:29
Find me on the Facebook, R&R Geek. Find me on the Twitter, R&R Geek. Find me on the Instagram, rockandrollgeek, don’t ask.

00:09:36
Someday I will tell you Rock Al’s Instagram, but I’m not going to do it just yet. That’s about it, friends. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

00:00:24
My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it.

00:00:27
Today is Tuesday, the 14th of July and it is 8.35, I’m doing this, 8.35 p.m.

00:00:36
We are in, where are we, Evans, Evans, Evans, Evans, Evans, uh, Evans, Evans, somewhere in Wyoming. We’re in Wyoming at a place called, Evanson, somewhere, somewhere in Wyoming. At a place called Highway 30 Tavern.

00:01:03
There are the all-star games going on right now. I had no idea the all-star game was happening. There are, it’s kind of a dive bar, yeah it’s pretty much a dive bar but they do serve food so we ordered some wings.

00:01:17
We got a cup, we’re drinking a fine Corona, an undisclosed person and cheers. Cheers. Beautiful undisclosed person, do you feel like introducing yourself or do you still want to stay undisclosed?

00:01:33
Introduce myself. Do you want to give your name or do you want to stay undisclosed? I like to stay undisclosed.

00:01:38
We’ll call her, um, Legit. We’re going to call you Legit. I prefer Raquel.

00:01:47
Alright, Raquel. Raquel is the undisclosed person. We just ordered two Coronas. I’m going to make this short because I’m not going to stay here all night and do a podcast

00:01:55
but we drove, what did we do? We stayed in Winnemucca last night and drove to Elko, Nevada, ate at a Basque restaurant, pretty good Basque lunch, apparently there’s a big Basque population in Elko, Nevada. I think there is in Winnemucca as well. We looked for a dive bar last night and we walked around, we were a little bit afraid

00:02:23
walking in the dark but we managed to make it back alive. The first place we were going to go to was the Butch Cassidy Hole in the Wall, Butch Cassidy Waterhole in the Wall, something like that. It looked shitty, it had fluorescent lights, so we said, ah, we’ll look for somewhere else, maybe we’ll go to the casino and on the way to the casino we found the perfect dive bar.

00:02:45
I don’t remember what it was called, do you remember what it was called? Something tap room, but they didn’t have any tap, oh, the Cheers Tap Room, but there was no tap, it was just a dive bar. That was a really good dive bar, so we had a good time, we had a few drinks and then came back to the room, left this morning and stopped in Elko, Nevada, had lunch, where we parked there was a strip club, it said, I forget what the name of it was, but it said Dancing and Diddling, and we’re like, what’s diddling, I don’t know what that means, I

00:03:25
know what diddling means, it means, isn’t diddling when you put your finger down there on the girl and you mess around with her, and I said, oh, huh, okay, it’s a joke, then I looked to the left and there’s a legal brothel right across the street and then there’s an Asian legal brothel right next to that, one was called Ann’s, what was it called, Mona’s what, Mona’s Dollhouse or something like that, Mona’s Ranch, and then there was Anna’s Ranch,

00:03:59
one had Chinese lanterns hanging out of it, hanging outside, and the other one didn’t. So there were two brothels, then we walked over to have a nice basket lunch and got back on the road and here we are in Evans something Wyoming, moving right along in the Penske truck, friends, I don’t think I got any donations, I haven’t looked at the Venmo, but if you care to contribute, it would be much appreciated, I’m hoping to meet with Ken Grossman tomorrow, I’m not positive where we’re gonna be driving through, I thought I was gonna be driving

00:04:36
through Boulder, Colorado, and I have to check, if I am, I’m gonna meet up with Ken Grossman, I don’t know if I’ve ever met in person, if not we’re gonna head up towards Chicago that way, I don’t know, but look at the map and if I’m on that way friends, hit me up, I would love to meet you for a beer or stay on your couch or just to have some food, whatever, or we just shake hands, you can call me an asshole to my face and you can take a look at beautiful Raquel, the undisclosed travel companion. All right friends, that’s gonna do it, I’m gonna close out with a song sent to me, we’re doing all road songs, we are doing all road songs on this trip,

00:05:19
Kirk Crawford sent me a song, he said Michael Attach is one of my favorite Alvin Lee songs, from a solo album he did in 1973 while still leading 10 years after, and he did it with a country rock singer named Mylon Lefevre, all kinds of British rockers guest appeared on this album, including George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Mick Fleetwood, among others. Anyway, you may not want to play it on the show as the chorus refrain of the song is, I’m on the road to freedom, on the road to love, that kind of fits, regardless it’s a great song written solely by Alvin and he sings lead and plays all the guitar parts, safe travels. All

00:05:59
right, for you Kirk Crawford, I’m gonna play some Alvin Lee, thank you for listening friends, rockandrollgeek.com is where you can find the show, send me an email rockandrollgeek at gmail.com, hit the donate button at rockandrollgeek.com, all the ways you can contribute to the show, if you get any value out of this, if you don’t, don’t contribute anything, and you can find me on the Facebook rnrgeek, happy birthday Adam Gerstein, friend of the show, he’s what, is he 35 today, probably something like that, find me on the Instagram

rockandrollgeek,

00:06:33
don’t ask, find me on the Twitter rnrgeek, and say goodbye, goodbye, Rock Hill, goodbye, and she doesn’t really quite talk, all right I’ll talk to you later friends, here’s Alvin Lee, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

From somewhere in the middle of nowhere, this is the Rock and Roll Geek Show. This is the story of my Rock and Roll Butler. Welcome to the Rock and Roll Geek Show.

00:00:23
My name is Michael Butler. Thanks a lot for joining me. I really appreciate it.

00:00:27
Today is Monday, July 13, 2026. I am somewhere on the road, on the way, we’re driving today to Winnemucca, Nevada. We left San Francisco this morning, rented a Penske truck.

00:00:48
I picked up the Penske truck at 9 o’clock a.m. I told you in the last episode it cost me $3,600.

00:00:56
That’s actually not true. It actually cost me five big ones, because your credit card company and your auto insurance doesn’t cover truck rental. We are in a 16-foot Penske truck driving it across the country, all the way from San Francisco to an undisclosed location in New York, upstate New York.

00:01:23
We’re expecting it to take us 46 hours. It’s going to go over eight days, that’s the plan. We flew into San Francisco on Thursday, stayed at a hotel at JFK on Wednesday night, the TWA Hotel.

00:01:40
Compliments of the undisclosed person traveling with me. Thank you very much. Beautiful undisclosed person.

00:01:48
Had a good time. We drank a lot. Let’s put it that way.

00:01:53
We had a fun time. TWA Hotel is an interesting hotel. It’s set up like the old TWA Airlines.

00:02:04
They even have a cocktail lounge in an airplane. It’s quite interesting. Pretty expensive, but it was fun. I wouldn’t have been able to afford it, but the undisclosed person put in the bill, and

00:02:16
I very much appreciate it, I’ve got to tell you. So then we flew into San Francisco on Friday. We met up with Craig and his wife, Pam, and their friend Dianne.

00:02:34
Is it Dianne or Diana, or something like that? Super nice woman. We went to Oakland, met with them for drinks and dinner, and we stayed in an Airbnb in Oakland, which was left a little bit to be desired, the Airbnb, but it had a shower, let’s put it that way. Then we drove all the way to Ukiah, met up with Casey, Casey Crenshaw, and the girls

00:02:59
in Featherwitch. It was Erica’s husband’s birthday, and they were having a cake party, so we stopped, a cake, not a keg, a cake party. We stopped in there for some cake, and it was nice to see the Featherwitch girls, haven’t seen them in a long time. And of course, there was talk about getting the band back together and all that, and I’m

00:03:15
holding my breath for that one, girls. Then we drove to Ukiah and stayed at a hotel in Ukiah, and then on Saturday, I had a Chad gig up in Fortuna, which is near Eureka. We opened up for a band called Shenandoah.

00:03:33
That was a fun show, a lot of people there, a good crowd, and they liked us. As usual, people thought that I was not a country guy, more of a rock and roll guy, but they seemed to like it, at least the kids that were shouting my name, holding up the metal horns, liked me. There was a cute little punk rock couple dressed as cowboys, and they were line dancing while we were playing.

00:03:55
It was fun. So then after that, the next morning, Sunday morning, we got up and drove all the way to the Mountain House and picked up the rest of my shift from the Mountain House, and then drove all the way to San Francisco and stayed at Don’s Basement on Sunday night. There was nobody else there because the kids are being withheld, the grandkids are being withheld from Michael Butler, from Papa, because Papa’s an asshole, apparently.

00:04:24
I don’t know. I’m not going to get into that, but yeah, we stayed there, went to the Pinsky Truck Company this morning, drove it back to the house in San Francisco, loaded that Pinsky Truck up with all my guitars, all my amps. Did I tell you how much the Pinsky Truck cost?

00:04:42
Well, see, the insurance, your insurance doesn’t cover it. It doesn’t cover the lost damage waiver. Your credit cards don’t cover it.

00:04:50
You have to buy the lost damage waiver. They’re walking around showing every scratch. So I had to get the lost damage waiver, which costs $1,000, actually $900 and change.

00:05:01
So this truck ended up costing me close to $5,000. Did I mention that I need some donations? By the way, thank you, Ralph Miller, for contributing to the Pinsky Truck Fund.

00:05:13
You donated $125. Thank you very much, Ralph. You’re a great man, I’ll tell you.

00:05:18
If you’d like to help contribute, it would be much appreciated. It’s $5,000 for a truck, not counting gas. We just pulled over for gas right outside Lake Tahoe.

00:05:27
$6.99 a gallon.

00:05:30
I never paid $6.99 a gallon since Joe Biden was president. I think I paid close to that.

00:05:37
But yeah, $6.99 a gallon. So we’re driving to Winnemucca, Nevada.

00:05:42
We’re going to stay there tonight. We put into the AI route us to some places with some good dive bars. This place is telling us to go to Winnemucca.

00:05:53
Hold on, I’ll take you to some of this water. I can’t wait to have a beer. The undisclosed, beautiful undisclosed person is driving the Pinsky truck right now.

00:06:07
I drove the whole way, but I needed to get a podcast in. She’s going to take us into Reno. Stopping at Winnemucca.

00:06:14
The chat GPT said there’s a couple of great bars in Winnemucca. Walking distance from the hotel. Or it’s actually a motel.

00:06:24
So we’re pulling into the motel. We’re going to park the Pinsky truck and walk to one of the two dive bars it suggested. Billy the Kid’s Hole in the Wall.

00:06:34
No, is it? Butch Cassidy’s Hole in the Wall. And there was another one.

00:06:37
I forget what it’s called. So we’re going to do that tonight. And then we’re going to get up in the morning and drive somewhere on the route to Catskills of New York.

00:06:48
So if you’re along that route, please hit me up friends. I would love to meet up with you. A few people have.

00:06:57
And we’re hoping to meet up with some of them. Depends on where we are. But thank you everybody who’s offered to meet up so far.

00:07:04
Please look at the route from Winnemucca, Nevada to Catskills of New York. And let’s meet up friends. So that’s the update for day one.

00:07:18
The dive bar road trip. The dive bar road trip with all Butler’s shit in the back of the Pinsky truck. I got about 30 guitars.

00:07:27
An SVT-810. An SVT-410. A little PV-412.

00:07:34
Bass amp. All the bass heads. What else do I have?

00:07:43
The PV Mark IV that I’ve had since the Stevie Stiletto days. Two kayaks. A log splitter.

00:07:54
An electric bike. Which I’m selling. So if anybody wants an electric bike, hit me up.

00:08:03
What else do I have? All of my albums. About 1,000 record albums.

00:08:08
All my rock and roll books. Which is about 2,000 rock and roll books. All my clothes.

00:08:17
And various other things. Driving it across the country. Goodbye, California.

00:08:24
I’m coming back on the 24th because I have an AZDZ gig. And then I’m going to fly right back. Yes, it costs me money to play.

00:08:33
Yes, I’m paying to play. But hey, I want to play. And I have not found a band yet in New York.

00:08:37
I will. I’ll find more than one band in New York. But I like playing with Chad.

00:08:41
I like playing with the Butlers. And I like playing with the AZDZ band. And I like playing with the Plunkets.

00:08:46
And every other band that I’m in. As long as I can do it, I’m going to do it. Damn it.

00:08:53
Why not? But in the meantime, we’re going to enjoy these eight days on the road. And in honor of this road trip.

00:09:01
This dive bar road trip. With the beautiful undisclosed person at the wheel. I’m going to be playing all songs about the road.

00:09:11
And we’re going to start off with the first one. By the great band Foghat. Eight Days on the Road.

00:09:18
I think this is from the Rock and Roll album. It’s got a rock and a roll. And like a dinner roll on the cover.

00:09:24
This one goes out to you, Chuck Spear. Because I know he’s a huge Foghat fan. He’s a fan of the hat.

00:09:30
All right. I will talk to you tomorrow. There’s a little update from the road.

00:09:36
It’s beautiful on this drive. I’ll tell you. We’re right outside Lake Tahoe.

00:09:40
And there’s all kinds of mountains. It’s just a beautiful view.

00:09:44
Not worth the $6.99 a gallon gas. But yeah.

00:09:48
All right. Thank you for listening, friends. If you get any value out of these daily updates.

00:09:54
Little dog days in advance. In July. If you get any value.

00:10:01
You’d really be helping me out with this road trip. Helping me out with the Penske truck. Rental.

00:10:07
I’m putting it all on the credit card. So at least I’ll get some points. I think.

00:10:11
I’ll get some time to pay it off. 22% interest. Yes.

00:10:17
The end is in sight. What do you call it? The end of the rainbow is going to be worth it.

00:10:25
I’m convinced of it. Because I like the person I’m with. And it’s going to be a lot better than it was. Hopefully the grandkids will

00:10:37
eventually come back into my life. But we’ll see. It’s not my doings.

00:10:43
And that’s all I can say of that. Because the last episode I got a bunch of shit about talking about my family life. But hey.

00:10:51
I’m public enemy number one. Enough of this. I’m not going to give you my problems.

00:10:56
Thank you for listening. It’s going to be great. It’s going to work out great. And it’s all going to end

00:11:04
like everybody wants it to end. Except I won’t be dead. I’ll talk to you soon.

00:11:11
Please keep the donations coming. Without your donations this show will die. A horrible, putrid, stench filled death.

00:11:16
Rockandrollgeek.com I’d love to meet up with you. Find me on the Facebook.

00:11:23
Rockandrollgeek Facebook group. Going strong. And thank you to Kirk Crawford for not sending me that new Rolling Stones album.

00:11:30
Which I have not listened to yet. But I’m going to. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

00:11:35
Here’s Foghat. Eight days on the road.

Broken, busted. Standing on a county line. I’ve been traveling.

00:13:06
Eight days on the road. That’s right. Eight days on the road.

00:13:17
Driving me through the night. There ain’t no time. Ain’t no time.

00:13:24
Ain’t no rest tonight.

00:13:40
I’m out here thinking. Thinking about what I’ve done. That’s why.

00:13:49
