L.A. Bands’ Classic Releases Now Available as Sizzling Combo Platters – the Perfectly Wild Gift for a “Wild in the Streets” Holiday Season; Re-Mastered Discs, Original Artwork Ensure Primo Sound, Vision
LOS ANGELES (October 4, 2010) — Porterhouse Prime Vinyl (a division of Porterhouse Records) is serving up a tempting holiday feast for fans of classic L.A. punk. The imprint will bundle its reissues of classic releases by two of punk’s most influential bands, X and the Circle Jerks, at super holiday prices. This one-of-a-kind sale, offered via the Porterhouse Records online store (http://porterhouserecords.com/store.html) and selected retailers, begins at midnight, October 31, and runs through midnight, December 31 – or until stock is sold out.
Three discs from X’s glorious creative peak – Wild Gift, Under the Big Black Sun and More Fun in the New World – re-mastered and pressed on thick, audiophile-quality 180-gram vinyl with all their original artwork and lyric sheets scrupulously reproduced, will be sold as the Wild Black Fun Gift Pack for just $45 (plus shipping). Created by X fans for X fans, these 12-inch beauties are a thrilling immersion in the sonic punch, lyric bite and all-around electricity of this extraordinary band.
Rolling Stone dubbed Wild Gift “the finest American punk album ever” and included Under the Big Black Sun in its list of the top 500 albums of all time. And the politically charged More Fun in the New World sounds as blisteringly relevant as it did in Reagan era. These three landmark albums boast such essential cuts as “Beyond and Back,” “White Girl,” “Blue Spark,” “The Hungry Wolf,” “The Have Nots,” “Devil Doll” and “Hot House,” and showcase X’s uncanny ability to filter the history of American music through its own uncompromising prism.
“The great thing about these reissues is that they are perfect reproductions of the originals,” says X frontwoman Exene Cervenka who – along with her bandmates – oversaw the reissues. “No extra tracks. No updated, modern, ugly graphics. No editorializing. They are time capsules.”
Four kinetic discs from the brilliantly irreverent Circle Jerks, meanwhile – Group Sex (on hot pink vinyl and once deemed “the most wonderful, unexpected gem to arrive in some time” by Vicki Arkoff of the Los Angeles Times), Wild in the Streets, Golden Shower of Hits and Wonderful (“One of the best punk rock recordings of all time,” according to an Amazon.com review) – also get the deluxe Porterhouse treatment on these slabs of speaker-rattling bliss. All the discs have been re-mastered, and Golden Shower and Wonderful have been pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Available for the first time in two decades, these seminal releases have been gathered as the Ultimate Jerk-Off Gift Pack for the incredible price of $50 (plus shipping).    They’ve been re-mastered for maximum moshability, and include their original lyrics sheets (so you can sing along with indelible tracks like “Wild in the Streets,” “Red Tape” and “When the Shit Hits the Fan”). These packed platters are guaranteed to keep your neighbors awake throughout the holidays.
