Another French cultural exception ? France : first country in the world to legalize the P2P ? Illimited music downloading to the non profit user for 7 euros a month… ? Christmas miracle ?
Incredible night in the French National Assembly (almost empty) who had to vote December 23th one of the most repressive law about the internet (DADVSI) with the Digital Right Management’s setup …A majority (30/28) of deputies (an unexpected alliance right-left against the government) won time to work correctly about such an important text which involves the society, the artists, the future generations and the podcasting…They refused to give in the urgency such power to the music industry’s majors and refuse to punish as criminals the non profit users who download free music on the internet to 3 years prison and 300 000 Euros fine ! They chose to protect the freedom on the internet…until when ? The vote is reported until January 17th and the governement is doing everything is possible to obtain the law’s acceptation already voted by the US and the whole Europe…I’m proud of our 30 deputies who were at their work place just before Christmas giving the success to the intelligence against the stupidity…the best Christmas’gift for me !
