  1. really enjoyed this interview! wish i was going to New Jersey for the Starz Fest… sounds like it will be a great time and in the tradition of the way rock concerts used to be…. fun and all about the music

love the acoustic sound of the American Heartbreak song… hehehee, the lyrics are kinda funny, though :p
    😀

  2. You’ve come a long way since you first interviewed Ritchie.

I have to say though, I’m a little curious why it is you consistently to make subtle derogatory remarks about homosexuality within pretty much every interview you do. Are they really necesary?

Do you still marvel over how many awesome things have happened to you since you started this podcast? A year ago, could you have imagined your band would be opening for Starz?

  3. He is really cool to listen to. Good songs. My favorite Starz album is the 1st one. I really like “Detroit Girls” & “Live Wire” The Jersey would be really cool. Hope you get time off to go? Keep the Cool shows coming. Later!

    Jeff

  4. where does one download Starz songs? I can’t find them anywhere.

perhaps they’d get more of that “recognition” if they were available online…

  5. I had to order the actual cd not download it. I wish Starz were available as a download somewhere, but waiting for the cd in the mail was worth it. I enjoyed the interview, Michael. I wish I could go to San Fran to see the AH and Starz show.

  6. Great Interview!

Starz deserved better and maybe with Starzfest and the show out in San Fran. they may end up with more shows, recognition. I’m 42 and still have all of the Starz stuff on top of my CD stack. If you havn’t heard them do yourself a favor, pay 10 bucks on overstock.com or Starzcentral.com for the Violation CD. You WILL thank me, and you WILL ask “why havn’t I heard of this band”!!

  7. Please keep doing whatever it takes to keep the flame going on this great American band. The best total package band of the 70’s, bar none. Great vocals, lyrics, guitars, drums, bass lines, back up vocals. This band had it all, except management! If bands like Loverboy and Cheap trick can still be out there touring then surely Starz can. support this band, buy a CD today!!, and no i’m not with the band, have never seen them live, and wont be able to make it to Starzfest.Just one of thousands of fans who scratched their heads in disbeleif that these guys didnt get the respect they deserve!

  8. So excited,,,,goin to StarzFest! Good interview, great music. I hope the TV thing works out.

Best Wishes for Starz and C’mon out to StarFest, it’s goin to be a blast!

  9. Yes, Take Andy’s challenge and buy a Starz CD now! But I recommend the first album and listen to Nightcrawler. You’ll be hooked! Great band, great music, nuff said!

  10. Starz had no management, but also no self-discipline. It was their choice to dump Brendan and Pete Sweval (dumb move), and it was their choice to break-up when they did. So yes, its a shame because they were a great band for 2 solid albums, but they, like thousands of bands, SELF destructed. they are still relatively young and still talented enough to get back into a studio. so until they do that I’m not gonna feel too sorry for them. BUt I’d buy ANYTHING they would put out in the future, they are that good.

  11. Michael – you say Starz pu out 2 solid albums. Which 2? I have only heard the first one and Coliseum Rock.

Also, If anybody that reads or posts on this went to Starzfest, please let us know how it was.

  12. In my opinion, all 4 albums are solid. I am going to guess that the other Michael is referring to the first self -titled record and Violation. My favorites are Attention Shoppers and Colliseum Rock. Get them all. YOU WON”T BE SORRY.

Starzfest is the weekend of Nov.5th.

  13. Sorry that was a slip, I will admit that there were 4 solid albums, however, the first 2 do stand out, to me.

Joe, you havn’t heard Starz if you hav’nt listened to Violation. HIGHLY recommend it.

  14. Good Interview, but I would really love to hear from Michael Lee Smith. Where the hell is he?, what is he doing? that guy could write better than anybody. Get to work Michael Butler!

  15. Hey Michael – GREAT job! I was at Richie’s house that day when he disappeared into his office for the interview. Are you coming out to StarzFest? If not, might see you in SF! Anyone interested in how it all turns out can go to the Starz website (starzcentral.com) anc click on the Message Board link – we’ll be posting photos and such!
    Thanks again,
    Lee
