Music and bands in this section are Aftermath, Chemical Waste & Jett Blakk from the Demolition Section. Meanstreak, Exodus, M.O.D. Smack, Gang Green, London, The Goo Goo Dolls and Nuclear Assault are interviewed and/or reviewed. Mustasch, Babylon Bombs and Waltari have all just released new albums so I play a track off each.

22nd Century’s hard punching and sometimes comical style is a mixture of Ramones style power punk with a healthy dose of 1990’s grunge. Their debut CD was produced by legendary music producer John Webster (Aerosmith, Cher, The Cult) and has garnered attention, including honorable mention in Billboard’s 2009 song writing contest. The trio has stuck to playing venues on the West Coast of North America (from LA to Vancouver) but will seek to expand their reach to Europe and Asia in 2010.? ?The band is currently writing for their second album, due out in 2010, which will include remakes of Martha and the Muffins “Echo Beach” and Angel City’s “No Secrets”.

For those expecting a podcast last week I apologize but as I did Rock and Roll Report Radio on October 12th I just couldn’t get a podcast together in time for release on Wednesday.
On this week’s podcast I turn things on their head a bit and feature what I consider 3 very distinct styles of music in 3 very distinct sets. And I went against my initial impulse to start of the show with the harder stuff to keep things interesting!
I have just finished reading “Rick Rubin: In the Studio
” and it is a pretty fascinating book as Rubin’s taste in music know no boundaries. From hip hop to hard rock, metal to Pop, Red Hot Chili Peppers to Johnny Cash, the guy understands that music is about the song and the emotion it conveys. A highly recommended read and a good rule of thumb to go by. Don’t get caught up in genres in niches, focus on the song and let the rest take care of itself which is kind of what I did this week. I love all this songs and at first listen you might find them to be quite different from each other but to me that doesn’t matter. Each song caught my ear and I like each one regardless of whatever genre YOU think they belong in!

First up to bat this week is The Plastic Tears with a track off their new album ‘Nine Lives Never Dies’. The Methadones with guest vocalist Annie Soviette play us their version of a track original done in 1982 by Scandal. Sator, for no other reason that I missed hearing them on Swedish Breakfast Radio, have a ‘HeadQuake’ song aired. Sticking with Sweden I play some Shakedown Suzies swiftly followed by fellow Swedes Innocent Rosie. Felony and Strike Twice, both from the US and both on Eonian Records have tracks from their “debut” albums played. All because of a 1979 BBC TV series I play some Heavy Metal Kids along with some Hanoi Rocks and as promised on last week’s show I play a track from The Adjusters ep ‘Can’t See’. Ginger has a solo track played as I talk about trying to raise enough funds to fly Ginger’s US bassist, Michael Butler, over for his Birthday Bash. I then play a track from a bunch of demos that I sent to Ginger that put me in his good books for a looooong time. Finishing off this week’s show is Mister Ozzy Osbourne.
