Episode 46
Back from my week break, not that you noticed, as against all odds I managed to get this show out on time. On this weeks show I get around to playing ‘Pissed’ written by Adam Bomb covered by Zen Motel. Then as we’re seeing the aforementioned Adam Bomb on the 2nd I play one of his tracks. Icelandic band Sign, who finish up their UK gigs before Download at the Bar Monsta on June 1st also have two tracks from their current album played. We have a World exclusive from another Adam, this time Adam West in the form of the title track from their up and coming swansong album ‘Extra Sexual Perception’ along with ‘You’re My Solar Flare’ which if you’ve visited their myspace page you will have already heard. I then move on to Enuff Z’Nuff who have parted company with Johnny Monaco but have reacquainted themselves with Donnie Vie. I play ‘I Used To Be In Enuff Z’nuff’ by Mr. Monaco and then an LA Smogg track, a band who feature Donnie Vie and Enuff’s new guitarist CJ Szuter. The whole show is wound up by a Wildhearts track from their new covers CD.

At least I met ED KUEPPER in person at Berlin and he offered me the possibility to record his both soundchecks and live shows May 21th and 22th…alone with him, his drummer Jeffrey Wegener and the sound engineer in the Tempodrom the biggest venue at Berlin and a few hours later packed with 3500 people : I really loved the intimacy of the soundchecks but the shows were very exciting too and good !!!The second day in the afternoon I recorded one hour interview with Ed Kuepper in the Tiergarten a wonderful park in the middle of Berlin : my idea was to approach his musical evolution during 35 years. In this podcast part one we started at Brême-Germany where Ed was born, then his childhood in Australia and his beginning with the “second band” : “Kid Galahad and the Eternals” aka “the Saints” !!!Â

Doc Neeson in that interview part 2 spoke about his life experience after his car accident, his way to recover the energy to jump on stage again, his attitude as a frontman not far away from a chaman…a true pleasure to hear his voice giving all the time a very sincere point of view as a musician and as a human person. I don’t know if my voice is seductive but his voice is terribly addictive…:)Â I played a lot of live extracts recorded in 1980 at Paris and in Australia with the Angels’ original members : Chris Bailey, Buzz Bidstrup, Doc Neeson, Rick and John Brewster…at least REUNITED !!Â

At least Doc Neeson gave me an interview for Meltingpod !! He was the last original Angels I was expecting for more than three years now to complete “my family” (thanks to Buzz Bidstrup who made that connection possible !!!).The news are great : The Angels (aka Angels city) finally fixed their legal problems with names, companies and…reunited for the fans’ pleasure and I can imagine for their own pleasure too ! Doc announced the Angels’ next Australian tour in July 2008, maybe an European tour in 2009, tried to comfort me right now alone at Marseille singing “a capella” a song for me, looking for a way with me to find money with Meltingpod and be able to join quickly the Angels in Australia…an incredible phone meeting placed under the sign “high seduction” but very friendly and warm-hearted too ! We spoke more than 1,5 hour with Doc so I will publish the podcast in two parts. Enjoy the first one !Â

Podcast 16 to me makes me want to hit the town and just blow off steam. I don’t know if it is Kat and Sugar, the Sex Slaves track “We’re Going Out Tonight” or the fact that this was recorded on a beautiful summery day, all I know is that I wanted to head downtown and paint the town red after recording it.
Email me at rockandrollreport@gmail.com and let me know what you thought of the show or drop me a comment on the Listener Line at 206-206-339-3646. Some of the tracks on this show came from the Podsafe Music Network, a very cool resource that bands should take advantage of to make it easier for podcasters to play and promote their music.

Getting ready for summer with some trash rock that warms you up and get you ready for the beach. Heating it up with some Johnny Thunders and Compulsive Gamblers, a little Mojomatic helps, especially since its from their now album, but all ends well with Yin Yang and the Flower Pot Men by the Gaza Strippers with a lot of surprises within. So like always, bring a lawn chair over and get your swimming suit on because I’m getting out the garden hose to cool things down on the driveway.
